I have been looking forward to photographing Courtney & Dean’s wedding at Sarcoa in Hamilton ever since I received Courtney’s first email. I was running a giveaway for one very special couple to win their wedding photography. I had many fantastic entries Many beautiful locations across Ontario. Courtney’s entry was one of the last one’s to roll in and as I read about the details of their wedding I was intrigued Sarcoa sounded like a beautiful venue and Courtney’s attention to detail for her “Glitter and Glass” theme with silver trays with gold glitter oil lamps, coupe champagne glasses, crystal decanters, pearls, tons of candles and deep purple roses sounded so stunning.
They planned on having a have a ‘baby it’s cold outside’ hot chocolate, coffee and hot apple cider station for guests when they arrive and a cheese stack instead of a wedding cake because they LOVE cheese (me too). Courtney and Dean wanted to make the most of their evening with their guests so they chose to have an intimate first look and do all of the photos before the ceremony so they could celebrate with all of the people that they love. They asked Dean’s long time friend to be their officiant for that personal touch to their ceremony. Their wedding sounded lovely and truly had my attention. But it was so much more than the gorgeous glitter details that made me fall in love with Courtney and Dean it was their beautiful hearts.
Courtney and Dean met while volunteering in South Africa helping to build a preschool and interacting with the children in the township where they worked. Living on opposite sides of the world was never an issue, after a visit to Dean’s family cottage Courtney extended her stay an extra seven months. It was just meant to be. Courtney explained that in Leiu of traditional wedding favours they decided instead to sponsor a child in Bolivia. I was pretty well decided at this point that nobody deserved to win their wedding photography coverage more than Courtney and Dean and then she showed me the video of Dean’s proposal exactly half way between Canada and Australia, he planned the whole thing with the stewards on their flight, but was so nervous he could barley stay in his seat. Courtney and Dean your wedding was everything you said it would be and more, Classy, elegant, beautiful, glittery, emotional, celebratory and so much fun. Gwen and I were so honoured to watch you two marry your perfect match, dance the night away with all your loved ones and to see you smile ear to ear all day long.
